I specialise in working with children and young people, caregivers and families, educators and professionals. The focus of my work is to support the learning, development, behaviour, social, emotional, sensory and physical needs of children, adolescents and young adults. I also assess the learning needs of adults and provide support with daily living and in the workplace.
My approach is informed by psychological principles, research evidence, and practitioner knowledge gained from my experiences as a Psychologist, Resource Teacher: Learning and Behaviour (RTLB), Teacher (primary and intermediate), and mother of four children.
I am registered with the New Zealand Psychologist Board under the Educational Scope, a New Zealand registered teacher, and a full member of the New Zealand Psychological Society (NZPsS) and the NZPsS Institute of Educational and Developmental Psychology (IEDP).
My Professional Background
My approach is person-centred, working collaboratively with people to make sense of challenges and identifying resources to support positive change. My aim is to maximise the potential of each person.
I draw on a wide range of assessment tools, clinical experience, and therapeutic approaches. Approaches include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), DNA-V (ACT for young people), Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Trauma-Informed approaches.
I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), the Cool Kids Anxiety Programme (Macquarie University), and Systemic Practice and Family Therapy.
Using an integrative approach allows me to be responsive to each person’s needs, strengths and preferences.
